{Flowers: LMD is TDF}

May 29, 2009

We're in love with the to die for(TDF) designs of New York floral and event design, Lewis Miller, creator of LMD Floral and Events. A California native, Lewis grew up among cabbage roses, wisteria, and olive groves. During his late teens, he moved to Seattle and studied horticulture and landscape design. After several years of honing in on his floral skills, Lewis made the big move in 2000 and moved to the big apple where he further advanced his event and floral skills working under some very top notch NYC floral designers.

In his East Village studio he creates the most delicious of arrangements that feel like they should be captured in still life paintings. One of our favorite is this simple bridal bouquet of parrot tulips surrounded by delicate ladie's mantle. His work reflects a quiet and relaxed soul who obviously knows his way around the beauty of flowers. We are honored to be adding LMD to our list of already top notch floral designers.

Congratulations on being named to this year's Modern Trendsetter list. It's well deserved.

{About PBL: Pink List Panel}

May 28, 2009

What is the Pink List Panel?

The Pink List Panel (PLP) is a discerning group of wedding professionals and enthusiast that embody all things fabulous, fun and flirty in weddings! The PLP is like the “think tank” of the Pink Blossom List. When it comes to weddings, the PLP collaborate, discover and unite to find the most beautiful, unique and inspiring details for any wedding.

The PLP is made up of the most amazing individuals in the wedding professional industry. Each member has a unique perspective and expertise that makes them distinctly qualified to provide commentary and insight into wedding planning. Here are a few of the exceptional PLP members that we want to introduce…Gloria Wong of Gloria Wong Design is the wedding décor specialist with an eye for “chic, sweet, tailored and tasteful!” She is described as “obsessive” about the design aspect of a wedding. All we can say is if it were our wedding, we want obsessive…we want someone that can create magic…we want someone that can inspire and stir our hearts…we want Gloria Wong!!!

Anne Millet is the visionary behind Mira Aster and our correspondence contributor. Anne’s amazing hand-sewn stationery are whimsical and unique. Her eye for detail, custom design and natural aesthetic make her a superb addition to the PLP. She is not afraid to use color and texture to create invitations that are innovative and simply sublime! She is a modern innovator!

Kevin Chin epitomizes artful elegance in photography. His use of film in photography is truly an art form as he captures the details of an event. His shots exactly seize the moments in all their splendid glory. The warmth and love of the day are intimately conveyed through his photographic eye. The textures and hues are perfectly depicted in print. Kevin silently but determinedly and purposefully photographs weddings that result in unforgettable visuals that lasts a lifetime.

Audrey O’Brien of Studio Stems is our floral design professional…a true artist who has (fortunately for us) focused her creative passion on floral design. Her philosophy and love of all things weddings is inspiring. With a design background and a successful boutique floral design company, Audrey is an exciting and welcome addition to the PLP. Being a fun and interesting, music-loving, snowboarding mommy is just a bonus.

(Decor: White Hot Details)

May 27, 2009

There's something pure about white that's timeless, innocent, and summery. After all, Memorial day weekend is the official weekend in which you can bring out your white handbags, white loafers, and white bottoms.

For us, it's been a long winter and we are ready for some white summer soirees.

What is it about white that makes us think of dreamy brides with their white gowns, pearl white jewels, and thin veils?

We love these inspiring images that make us dream and sigh that white is indeed back again after a long absence. From cakes, candies, flowers to invitations, we applaud everyone for helping to bring back whites.

The focus of this dessert table is a tempting multi tiered wedding cake topped with a footed compote cleverly filled with candy nibbles. Lined around the table are clear apothecary jars stuffed with various white candy styled by Martha Stewart.

This white on white cake with a pair of white doves from the inspiring editors of Martha Stewart is delicate as it is refined. Each layer has its own design which draws the eye upwards.

When it comes to the ceremony, just remember to make your summer wedding look white even if it is under a tent, you've got to set the mood. This wonderful wedding with a frothy fabric ceiling, white aisle runner, and white orchid aisle decor is a wonderful reminder of how graceful white weddings are. We love how the floral designer, Claire Bean of NY, made white flowers quite glamorous - far better than we could have ever imagined.

Don't forget - white may be traditional and boring to some but to us, it's always in fashion.

{Photography: Sitting Down with Kevin Chin}

May 26, 2009

Our PBL contributor, Nancy Liu Chin had such a great time talking with photographer Sabine Scherer last week, so we asked her to talk to another wedding pro. Since Nancy's schedule was a bit full, she sat down over brunch with her husband, Kevin Chin for this quick conversation.

Shall we get to know
Kevin Chin who was recently named by The Knot as one of the best photographers in the Bay Area?

NLC: Given what you know now, what one thing would you change about your wedding(I mean our wedding)?

KC: My dream wedding would be to have a beach wedding on a warm tropical island. My bride (that would be you) and I would be barefoot on the beach saying our vows as the sun sets. And of course the dinner reception would be alfresco on the beach under the stars.

NLC: Aww. That's so sweet. I like that.

NLC: What's your top five Guilty Pleasures?

KC: US Weekly, TMZ and anything tabloidish. 2) All types of magazines. Of course you know that we subscribe to about a dozen of them. 3) My Cuban cigars. 4) Clothing and shopping. I take up more closet space! 5) Entourage. I secretly want to have my own entourage. Do you think anybody would want to start an entourage with me?

NLC: If you could attend any celebrity wedding, who's wedding would you like to attend?

KC: I would have loved to attend Madonna & Sean Penn's wedding back in the day. They are meant each other and I predict they will end up back with each other. I am waiting for US magazine or TMZ to make the official announcement.

NLC: Can I be your mystery date?

NLC: Given the current situation with brides and grooms, what is the one thing that you would suggest that they reevaluate when planning their wedding.

KC: I think cutting down the guest list has the biggest impact on the cost of a wedding.

NLC: What is one thing about being a photographer that people don't know about?

KC: As a photographer, we may not be curing cancer but I feel our job is very important in preserving important moments and memories. I love it when I show up at a the bride's parent's house and displayed are old photos of their parents and grandparents. It reminds me that the photos that I am capturing today will be shared with future generations long after I am gone.

Random Final Notes: Kevin is a self taught photographer who has been shooting weddings for nearly two decades. Though located in San Francisco, some of his wedding projects have taken him to France, Italy, Thailand, Philippines, Holland, and Peru. His wedding work has been published in Elegant Bride,Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, The Knot, and Bride & Bloom magazines. You can also find some of his work in the 2008 coffee table wedding book called Style Your Dream Wedding by Susie Coehlo. A recent educator at The Wedding University and member of SF's Short List, Kevin Chin continues to use film in a world of digital photographers and has plans to do small workshops later this year for amateur photographers. It's great to see that this medium is making a bit of a comeback.

Thanks, Kevin!

{The List #7: Best Honeymoon Beach Spots}

May 25, 2009

You've stressed. You've planned. You've budgeted. The wedding will soon be over so it's time to take that relaxing beach honeymoon and start your marriage with some romance. We've asked the Pink List Panelists to come up with a list of their Favorite Beach Honeymoon Places. Our gal, Lisa S. did a great job in compiling this list and even added a little celebrity gossip.

Read on....

Bora Bora, Tahiti: For an extra luxurious experience stay at the all-new Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa or St. Regis Resort where Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban spent their honeymoon(Bora Bora Resort, pictured above). We also like that the Intercontinental Group is running a Get a Free Night Promotion.

Lanai, Hawaii: Lanai is so secluded that the very private Bill Gates snuck off to get married there. There are only two resorts on the island and they are both owned by The Four Seasons Hotel group.

Punta Mita, Mexico: Heavenly white sand beaches that stretch for miles, Haagen Dazs ice cream delivered to you in the infinity pool -- need I say more? Stay at The Four Seasons. And, let's not forget the newly built St. Regis Punta Mita that is situated on 22 acres. We like their Emerging Paradise offer which includes a massage at the Remede spa after you are picked up by a luxury SUV. Since the airport is 50 minutes away, we find this indulgence more a necessity.

Los Cabos, Mexico: Easy getaway with direct flights from several cities on the West Coast. Stay at the One & Only Palmilla where Eli Manning just honeymooned and where Heidi and Spencer from The Hills supposedly got hitched! It's a favorite of Nancy Liu Chin who writes, "it's my favorite place in Mexico where you can sit all night in the lounge, listen to the vocalists sings romantic love songs, and feel like it's your own home instead of a hotel".

Turks and Caicos: Named one of the “Sexiest Beaches” by the Travel Channel. Stay at The Parrot Cay resorts, where Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner said "I do" and where rockers Ashley Simpson and Pete Wentz relaxed. Known for the climate, white sand and warm seas the resort created a honeymoon package with the bride and groom in mind. Inquiry about the their seven nights offer which includes a 60-minute couples massage and candlelit dinner in the COMO Shambhala Cottage.

St. Martin, French West Indies: Exclusive, secluded, complete luxury, elegance, and tranquility. No one will bother you at La Samanna Resort & Spa's new Villas where VIP airport transfers, continental breakfast, twice daily housekeeping, private beach cabana with beach butler service are simply the norm. We hear that Villa guests can also request a 43 ft Italian power boat to tour neighboring island. No wonder Courtney Cox and David Arquette honeymooned there(and they are still a Hollywood couple).

Wakaya Island, Fiji: The Wakaya Resort is situated on Wakaya Island, a private 2,200 acre hideaway that is one of 333 islands that comprise the Fiji group. Wakaya Island is surrounded by a protected coral reef, and the island boasts serene lagoons, majestic cliffs and pristine white sand beaches. And yes, Tori and Dean stayed here! Though paradise it may be, be prepared to shell out $2K per night.

Bali, Indonesia: Made famous by Elisabeth Gilbert's novel Eat, Pray, Love, Bali is a spiritual place where you go to seek discernment, peace, and restoration. We can't think of a better place to honeymoon because it truly is a place where not only love exists but love flourishes.

Bulgari's Bali resort overlooking the Indian Ocean offers an array of luxurious services. However, for those who want to elope, they offer wonderful wedding services! Why not marry and honeymoon?

The Maldives: One of those islands where you just aren't really sure where it is at. Is it in the Europe? Africa? South Pacific? It's actually an island country in the Indian Ocean southwest of Sri Lanka, Blogger: Pink Blossom List - Edit Post "{The List #7: Best Honeymoon Beach Spots}"consisting of 19 atolls made up of more than 2,000 coral islands. It's the best kept secret but no longer a secret thanks for Fergie and Josh Duhamel. Yup, they honeymooned at the One and Only Resort at Reethi Rah.

Costa Rica: It's not known for luxury accommodations but we have a feeling that Tom and Gisele's wedding might just launch Costa Rica into a jungle paradise. Florblanca Resort and Lapa Rios are a few of the smaller boutique hotels that offer paradise with a bit of rustic charm.

{Event Designers: MB's Dream Wedding}

May 22, 2009

The world of wedding planning is changing. There are those who are experts at logistics and planning. Others have superb taste and an eye for design. Few can do both well. And even fewer are fun, outgoing, and positive like Michelle Barrionuevo-Mazzini of MB Wedding Designs. Whether it's an opulent gala or an intimate destination wedding for a handful, MB as she is known has the drive, passion and spunk to create weddings that any bride would envy.

Recently we asked MB to describe her own Dream Wedding. What would a top notch wedding and event designer put together for herself. Let's dream along with MB.

MB writes,"the wedding of my dreams would take place at a private ocean front property on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii.

The colors would be white, eggplant, yellow, and indigo blue. The theme would be
"Island Chic".

The invitations would be designed by Studio Ayt while the bridal gown would be a Reem Acra signature design.

The bridesmaids would wear silky satin plum gown from Butter by Nadia.

For dinner guests would be served a 4 course Hawaiian fusion meal to include macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi and slow roasted pig just to name a few.

The bar would be flowing with a Signature drink, a Hawaiian martini, which consist of Maui pineapples infused in SKYY vodka, vanilla vodka and Malibu coconut rum. Sounds divine!

For the ceremony MB would hire Norah Jones to sing Come Away with Me” as she walks down the aisle (this was the actual song MB chose to walk down the aisle to for her own wedding in March of 2005) . MB tells us ," I always envisioned my mother would walk me down the aisle. She passed away a year before my 2005 wedding and was unable to be a part of my special day so if I could do it all over again with her alive, she would give me away".

Being a music lover, MB would love musicians like Stevie Wonder, Hall and Oates, John Legend, La India and El Gran Combo to perform at her island nuptials. We can imagine guests dancing the night away. Oh how lovely!

This boutonniere featuring orchids in a citrus lime yellow with blue accent lends itself to this chic wedding. It's a love!

Even though this a dream wedding, we're still envious!!!

Thank you MB for sharing with us a bit of your dream wedding.

{Decor: The Back Porch Shoppe}

May 21, 2009

One of the many details that we, members of the Pink List Panel, always swoon over when we’re looking at images of weddings is signage. Whether it’s a rustic “Welcome” sign in raw wood for a winery wedding or a fancy “Desserts” sign with ornate flourishes for a ballroom soiree, signs seem to always be an unexpected scene stealer.

We came across one very delightful signage company on Etsy that we felt inclined to share with you! If you are planning a shabby chic style wedding, you’ll flip out when you see these adorable cottage-inspired signs from The Back Porch Shoppe!

Darline Treitler is the founder of this charming company. She creates all of the signs from her back porch, hence the name! Her husband cuts, sands, and base coats, and then she does all the artwork. (Well, maybe not all the artwork… Darline admits that sometimes she gets her husband to do the artwork for her. But, she’s always hands-on when it comes to checking for symmetry!) She’s such a fun spirit! Darline’s personality is as cute as her signs.

Check out the wonderful examples of her work! For you shabby chic brides-to-be, how lovely would a custom-made “Wedding” sign in crackled ivory paint be at your ceremony!!!

{Real Weddings: French Soiree Part Three}

May 20, 2009

Elegant cut glass candelabras with dangling chandelier crystals with pink linens and gold chiavari chairs is perfect for that Marie Antoinette style.

Sherry and Tom with Jeannie's help also created a family crest which was used throughout their paper goods, and prominently displayed on the dance floor. The pattern on their invitation was also carefully piped onto the wedding cake created by the pastry team at the St. Regis Monarch Beach. French pastries, including macaroons were presented after lunch, served with hot tea.
Thank you Jeannie of Details Details for this beautiful French Soiree wedding. We are honored that you are part of our Pink Blossom List.

All images by the talented Victor Sizemore.

{Real Weddings: French Soiree Part Two}

Vintage crystal glass containers housed the fluffy flowers, and ostrich feathers! Feathers of all shapes and sizes were seen on her chair, her hair and of course in her bouquet!

We love this pink cone filled with hydrangea and pink roses. This is definitely a signature Details Details touch.

The pink napkin fold with pink orchid is always a nice finishing touch. These details were captured so beautiful by Victor Sizemore.

{Real Weddings: French Soiree Part One}

Details Details had us at their home page and we are thrilled to be featuring one of their real weddings. If you recall with Details Details, it truly is about the details!!! And the gorgeous event specialists (have you seen these ladies?!) at Details Details, headed by the extraordinary Jeannie Savage, have the expertise and experience, the creativity and innovation, the taste and elegance, the passion and perfection to make any event not only unforgettable for the bride and groom, but for the guests as well.

Their philosophy of energy, creativity and knowledge of the industry definitely sets Details Details apart from other event planners. When it comes to experience, Details Details is unmatched. They create the most distinct and inspired events because they work with the best, and they are the best. Just check out the details of this French inspired soiree.

From feathers to sparkling rose wine, Sherry ,the bride, wanted a modern
fairy tale wedding with a French flair, all inspired by the period piece movie, Marie Antoinette.
Jeannie writes, "if you haven’t seen it, you must… it’s one of my favorite movies as the costumes and food and oh the shoes were to die for! ".

With this wedding, everything had to be scrumptious. Sherry’s over the top corset, French tulle and lace dress was the first piece to this story.

{The List #6 : Favorite Color Combinations}

May 19, 2009

Color combinations are the hardest things to figure out when it comes to your wedding.

Seriously, how does one narrow the choices? Afterall, it feels like the color combination dictates so much including the bridesmaid gowns, the invitations, even the lighting choices that it's absolutely difficult to find just the right combinations. It's not enough to just say Blue. You've got to define the right hue of blue.

Thankfully, we had quite a bit of help and we narrowed down our choices to these top ten.

It's just a mere handful of combinations but we think you will love our choices. These colors are fun, interesting, and ever so pleasing.

Magenta + Orchid pink + Black
Fuchsia + Tangerine + Orange
Salmon + Grapefruit + Spearmint
Lilac + Eggplant + Espresso
Gray+ Sunny Yellow + Butter
Violet + Antique Gold + Citron

Lemonade + Kelly Green + Kiwi
Navy + Pretty Pink + Classic White
Powder + Pewter + Canary
Turquoise + French Blue + Milk

These awe inspiring combinations come to us from one of the best resources, The Wedding Style Guide. If you can't find an issue, you can also order their issues via their fabulous website for $AUD $49.95 for 12 issues.

Turquoise + French Blue + Milk - top right
Navy, Pastel Pink and Bubble - middle left
Lemonade + Kelly Green + Kiwi - far right

What color combination is your favorite?

{Reality Check: Bridal Bouquet}

May 18, 2009

As a bride, you see this wonderful design in a magazine and we're sure you ask yourselves, how much would that cost? So we've started a new feature aptly named "Reality Check".

Each month we will ask four resources from across the nation to answer one of our questions so that you can be well informed.

For this week, the Pink List Panelists asked four top notch floral designers from across the nation, east to west, north to south to answer this question,

How much would this Martha Stewart bouquet cost in your city?

From Flower Divas to Soiree Floral, Studio Stems to A to Zinnias, this is what they would charge for this beautiful, marigold, grey, and soft green bouquet featuring ranunculus,freesia, mini succulent, berzilia, dusty miller and finished with vintage inspired seamstress ribbons.

{Cakes & Sweets: Me Me Miette}

May 15, 2009

Thank God It's Friday!

We wanted to end the week with something sweet.

In San Francisco, there are not only one but three wonderful stores called Miette.

Each has its own wonderful vintage inspired decor. Each is a dreamy, nostalgic place of sweet wonderment.

Each embodies a wholesome, goodness.

Pictured to the right is one of their many cakes that you can order. This one is sinful pretty on that milk glass cake stand. The prices for their cakes range from $30 to $50 and can serve between 6 to 10 people.

Pictured to the left is their Hayes Valley location where they specialize in candies. We love the vintage salmon pink, kiwi green, buttery yellow wall paper. The vintage scale is delightful.

The candies are all displayed so perfect in large glass jars. Candy may be for little kids but all dressed up like this is hard for anyone to resist.

Miette has a wonderful array of candies for all you brides who want a unique candy bar. Last weekend, their table display included 12 inch long Marshmellows sticks, gigantic jawbreakers, chocolate covered gummies, and some very unusual chocolates wrapped with a silver sardine print.

Don't worry, for those who don't want pre packed chocolates, they have jars of candy that you can buy by the pound.

What we love about Miette is it's simple philosophy of providing sweets that are modern cheerful and always delicious.

One great plus, they do host private parties where adults can munch on cotton candy, pastries while sipping champagne. What fun!

You can order many of their candies and even some of their cookies for shipment via their website at www.miette.com.

{The List #5: Cheap but still Chic}

May 14, 2009

The economy is putting a strain on everyone so there's got to be ways to cut costs but not effect the overall chic and swankiness of a wedding. We asked our Pink List Panel(PLP) to come up with some tips that are on the Cheap but still so so so Chic!

Cut your guests list. Cut Cut Cut

Cookie bar instead of a Dessert buffet - go to your local gourmet grocery chain like a Whole Foods where they make great cookies. One bride, Kim N., had all her aunts make the cookies. It added a really personal touch! Love that. (Photograph courtesy of Amy Atlas)

Keep your bridal party to a manageable amount - it's hard to do but remember that each additional bridesmaid needs a bridal bouquet. Each groomsmen needs a boutonniere. Plus all those thank you gifts and makeup, hair, dresses to deal with. Bride, Lisa S. choose to do it and we applaud her.

Fore go the pin spots but do a dramatic wash on the dance floor and up lighting if you are having a ballroom wedding

Instead of an expensive floral centerpiece, Nancy Liu Chin recommends that couples replace with a grouping of beautiful containers and place a single stem of flower in each vase.

Have reception at a modern, loft style restaurant. You may not need to rent tables or expensive linens. Not only that, but it feels more hip says photographer, Kevin Chin.

Have a relaxing Sunday morning wedding followed up by a bountiful brunch instead of those expensive sit down dinners.(Photography by Beatriz Da Costa; Seen on Brides.com; Flowers by Ovando NY)

Instead of having a destination wedding where every guest has to fly to a remote location, have two smaller receptions - bride's hometown, groom's hometown. It's also a great way to spend more time with your family and friends.

Why not use a chalkboard to write out the menu instead of printing individual menus for every guests. Gloria Wong used this wonderful idea for an outdoor Napa wedding. Great idea!

{Photography: Interview with Sabine Scherer}

May 13, 2009

An image says more than words at times. In order to visualize, we need images to stimulate, to inspire, to authenticate, to define. We know that it's impossible to describe a beautiful bouquet or a lovely bride without a photograph.

So - we sent PBL contributor, Nancy of Nancy Liu Chin Designs, on a mission to find us new and hidden talent in the photography world. She came back with this fun interview with Sabine Scherer - a San Francisco wedding photographer. Let's get to know Sabine.
NLC: If you could photograph any celebrity couple, who would it be and why?
SS: Bear Grylls and his wife Shara ! Bear Grylls has probably done every crazy extreme nature/ survival thing one could think of. So naturally the photo shoot would have to take place on some gorgeous wild patch of land only accessible by parachuting out of a helicopter or plane. And any shoot starting with aerial acrobatics and me getting to skydive is a major bonus in my book!
NLC: If you had to sit at a wedding with 9 other people, who would be on your table?
SS: Tucker (my fiancé), Verena, (my best friend), John Stewart, John Oliver, Will Farrell, Brian Regan, Ricky Gervias, Brad Pitt, and Kathy Griffin. I’d probably die laughing, but it would be so worth it.
NLC: Brad Pitt - yummy. Would Angelina be his date?
NLC: Should you decide that you don't want to do wedding photography, what would you do instead?
SS: Professional adventurer
NLC: Do you have any guilty pleasures?
SS:Desserts, The Food network, Fizzy water, reading a book on a nice day in the park, receiving a professional massage
NLC: What random things don't I know about you?
SS: I received two degrees – one in Zoology and one in Fine Arts. Naturally, that immediately led me to Wedding Photography. Well, not really. Out of college, I worked at IUCN as a Marine Program Officer. Even though I was working for a good cause, I did not love what I was doing. So I decided to do a complete 180, quit my job and immerse myself in photography.
For several years I assisted some of the best commercial and editorial photographers in the DC area, learning from them and teaching myself along the way. Around that time, I was picked up as a second shooter for a wedding. I was hooked! I loved that I could be artistic and scientific at the same time while being part of such an important event in a couple’s life. It spurred me to start 'Sabine Scherer Photography', my own boutique company. I haven’t looked back since. I pride myself on providing my clients personalized service with a unique style. I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the top vendors in DC, NY and San Francisco.
NLC: Where has your work appeared?
SS: My photography has been published multiple times in Condé Nast Brides, Bride and Bloom, The Knot, as well as on numerous industry blogs. I recently was awarded The Knot’s “Best of Weddings” pick for 2008/2009. First and foremost, though, I am most excited about my wonderful clients and their allowing me to creatively capture important moments of their lives.

{Poll: Should you hire a wedding planner?}

May 12, 2009

This week, we are launching a new feature. On the right sidebar, you will find a poll. Every month, we will have a different poll. You are welcome to vote as many times as you wish. Our poll begins today and will end on June 1st. We'll share the results with you in a later post. Let the voting begin!

Our poll question is this

Should you hire a wedding planner?

{Invitations: Congrats to Anne of Mira Aster}

Do you remember a couple posts back we wrote that we had a little secret to share about Anne Millett of Mira Aster?

At the time, we couldn't tell you our little secret. Well, the cats out of the bag and we can finally tell you that Anne has won one of the wedding industry's most coveted award - Modern Bride Magazine's Trendsetter's .

Every year, the magazine looks at people in the industry who are setting the bar, creating positive changes to weddings and just doing really inspiring work.

Of course, most importantly, they scout the country for 25 wedding industry vendors who are setting trends.

We are so proud of Anne because she is our good friend, one of our Pink Blossom List contributors, and one of the most talented invitation designers we know! And she's super nice!

Again, congratulations, Anne Millett, "Paper Artisan" for being named on the 2009 list of 25 Trendsetters by Modern Bride's Magazine. You are in good company and your award is well well well deserved.

Among the list of trendsetters, they include:

Kimm Birkicht of The Velvet Garden, Los Angeles,
Gail Watson of A Simple Cake, New York City
Michael George of Michael George, New York City

We wish we could be in NYC celebrating with you, Anne. Give our best to fellow recipient, Bee Kim of WeddingBee(we love her, too).

And while you are enjoying the party, don't forget to "Say hello!" to party guru, Colin Cowie, for us!

PS: We had no idea that you keep company with celebrities like Brooke Shields, Carmen Electra and David Navarro.

PSS: Issues of Modern Bride Magazines are currently in new stands. Pick up yours now...before they sell out.

PSSS: We can't wait to share some of Mira Aster's signature designs with you. Look for a follow up article.

{Decor: Stolen Plate Press & Sugar Coat It Studio}

May 11, 2009

Since all of us here on the Pink List Panel are always stressing the importance of cohesion to our lovely brides and grooms, it's no surprise that we were over the moon when Gloria Wong found out about the collaborative projects between Stolen Plate Press and Sugar Coat It Studio.

Stolen Plate Press is a letterpress design company that offers delightfully naive and unconventional graphics on their paper goods. Sugar Coat It Studio is a cake company that specializes in fun, modern, and graphic-drive cakes.

Together, this super cool duo has created a graphic feast for the eyes (and tummy) with their line "Cakes and Cards".

Brides and Grooms, take this as a cue! Either knock on the doors of this dynamic duo to tie your wedding cake with your wedding paper goods or bring your invitation to your cake maker and ask them to interpret it into a cake!!!!

Remember, Cohesion, folk! Cohesion!!!!

We know that the best formula for a smooth and perfect wedding starts teamwork. If you have a story to share on your successful collaborations, let's hear about it. Send your story to pinkblossomlist@gmail.com

{The List #4: Floral Designers}

May 8, 2009

After weeks of looking for the right floral designers to be apart of the inaugural Pink Blossom List's of Best Floral Designer list, we've come up with these very deserving designers.

Each have their own unique style but the common thing that we looked for was original work, contribution to their craft, inspiring designs, and of course, a comprehensive website. Some have store fronts like Mark's Garden, other's work in their studio like Asiel Designs, some do more than just flowers like Kathleen Deery and Belle Fleur, other's are known for their floral tips & inspirations like Nancy Liu Chin Designs, many have beautiful websites like Waterlily Pond, some have been a Modern Bride's Trendsetter like Karen Axel of Tapestry, some have written books like Ariella Chezar, others contribute regularly to magazines like Livia Cetti of The Green Vase, whatever the reason, they are truly well deserving to be on our list. From the west to the mid west to the far northeast. Congratulations. (The full list is on our side bar)

Do you think someone is worthy to be on this list? Send in your comments and nominations to pinkblossomlist@gmail.com.
