The most simple beer cocktail is "The Black Velvet" which is one part stout and one part champagne. Serve this classic in a fancy flute and you've got yourself a drink!

Seasoned bartenders commonly call it "The Cure". This easy cocktail for is also for beginners. Mix together beer, lemon juice, liquor, and a touch of ginger. Sip the night away.

And for experts only... try the refreshing Mexican cocktail "Happy Mich".The main ingredients are Dos Equis, hot sauce, watermelon cubes, lime juice, and salt. Get the official recipe from Epicurious.

Cakes and Sweets: Beyond "cake" pops!

April 20, 2011

We've seen cupcakes, cookies, whoopie pies, and now cake pops. But how long will this trend be new and exciting? When planning for a wedding next year, it's hard to predict what the next big thing will be.   One way to keep things fresh is to put a unique spin on the hottest trend. Let's see some alternatives to the traditional"cake pop".

Panini pops! Create any flavor panini, use cookie cutters to form shapes, and let the cheese do the sticking.

It's easy to get creative with these upside down ice cream cones. Choose toppings in fun colors to spruce up your table.

Although they are in the same family as cake pops, "cookie pops" let you get more creative with shapes, colors and textures.

These chocolate rice crispy treat pops look heavenly- and they must be so easy to make!

And last but certainly not least, lets not forget the traditional ice popsicle. Can't go wrong with this fun classic!

Edible Trends: Flowers or Food?

April 13, 2011

Brighten up your spring table with entrees that can double as decor. Sure, "edible" flowers can do the trick, but even everyday veggies can be beautiful. Lets take a second look at some classics.

These turnips resemble buds when they are whole and petals after they are cut. Decorate a green salad with them and you have yourself an edible bouquet.

Broccoli perfection or dark Viburnum?

And to save the best for last: figs. These fruits add and absolutely gorgeous and sensual element to any table.

Honeymoon: The Getaway Car

April 1, 2011

First things first. Before jetting off overseas to the ultimate honeymoon destination, don't forget to leave your reception in style! "The Getaway Car" is a long-time wedding tradition when the bride and groom ride off (happily ever after) into the sunset with wedding decorations trailing behind them. Whether its the classic tin cans and streamers or something a little more luxe, this wedding tradition is something we never want to leave behind!

Vintage getaway cars are a no brainer for a traditional and fun exit.

Or go a greener "route" with a sweet and simple exit on carriage or bike!

Loving these smart car "people" for a more modern wedding! (But shouldn't the newly weds ride together?)

And what better way to ride away in style than in a classic 1955 Ford convertible? Farewell!
